Symptoms of Xanax Withdrawal
Before you start your treatment, it is important to be aware of the symptoms of Xanax withdrawal. While many of the symptoms will bring about discomfort, they are also signs that your body is ridding itself of the medication toxins.
Some of the symptoms include:
- Sweating
- Seizures
- Muscle soreness or stiffness
- Nausea or vomiting
- Headaches
- Increased heart rate
In addition to physical symptoms, you may also experience some psychological symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, disorientation, fear, panic, or the desire to withdraw from everyone around you. You also experience sensory overload (noises are too loud, lights are too bright).
While these symptoms may make you feel horrible at times, they are a sign that your body is already healing from your addiction. Eventually, a few days will pass, and you will start to feel better.
Four Stages of Xanax Detox Withdrawal
1. Stage One: The Symptoms Slowly Develop
During the first six to twelve hours of your detox, you may start to experience your initial symptoms. You are likely to suffer from insomnia or a level of anxiety. Keep in mind that most symptoms in all stages are normal.
2. Stage Two: Symptoms Intensify, New Symptoms
3. Stage Three: Extended Symptoms
4. Stage Four: Return to Normal
