Medication-Assisted Treatment
According to SAMHSA, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is “the use of medications, in combination with counseling and behavioral therapies, to provide a ‘whole-patient’ approach to the treatment of substance use disorders.” At Silver Pines Treatment Center in northeast Pennsylvania, we believe that utilizing types of MAT such as Suboxone and Vivitrol will provide our clients with the resources they need to get on the path to recovery from opiate addiction.
What Is Suboxone?
Suboxone, a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone, is one of the most commonly used drugs in MAT. This treatment tightly binds to the same receptors in the brain as other opiates; therefore, suboxone blocks intoxication from other opiate narcotics, helps with cravings and reduces symptoms of withdrawal.
Silver Pines’ Approach to Suboxone Maintenance
Silver Pines’ clients are welcome to use Suboxone or any other type of MAT we offer as they begin their journey to long-term addiction recovery. By allowing clients to utilize Suboxone Maintenance, we are aiming to give our clients the best chance at success navigating early recovery. Ultimately, we strive to help individuals suffering from opiate addiction develop the tools to engage & communicate as they participate our clinical programing.
Designed to Assist
Medication-Assisted Treatments are intended to reduce cravings and help normalize body functions while allowing the individual to focus on treatment in a calming environment. Of course, these medications would not be effective without an engaged approach to addiction recovery. Like other treatments, MAT is most successful in the long-term when combined with therapy and/or counseling to address the underlying causes of their addiction.
At Silver Pines, our skilled team gives our clients access to a full holistic treatment approach. We put physical and emotional needs first to ensure comfortability as they start their recovery process. To learn more about suboxone treatment, please call Silver Pines today at 267.209.7313.
